BASIN CITY — A ban on swimming in Scooteney Reservoir was lifted today, according to the Benton-Franklin Health District. The reservoir was closed to swimming Aug. 10 when a toxic algal bloom increased the amount of toxic bacteria — mycrocystin — in the water. BASIN CITY - The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is seeking information on a hit-and-run incident in which a vehicle crashed through the front of a building overnight Sept. 20-21. The crash occurred at the Women, Infants and Children building on Road 170, the Sheriff's Office reported.
