Pasco teenager injured in three-vehicle crash

RICHLAND — A Pasco teenager was transported to a regional hospital following a 5:59 p.m. crash on state Highway 240.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Yana V. Derevyanchuk, 19, of Pasco, was hospitalized after she rear-ended another vehicle.

Another Pasco woman, Racqueline R. Gonzalez, 23, was the driver of the second vehicle, the patrol reported. The impact pushed Gonzalez’s vehicle into a third vehicle, which was driven by Christopher A. Mendoza, 23, of Touchet.

Neither Gonzalez nor Mendoza were injured, the patrol reported, noting all three drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The crash occurred on westbound Highway 240 near Milepost 36, the patrol reported.

Gonzalez’s 2019 Chevrolet Impala and Mendoza’s 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe were stopped for traffic in the right lane, the patrol reported. Derevyanchuk failed to stop her 2012 Lexus IS, starting the chain-reaction crash.

Derevyanchuck was cited for speed too fast for conditions, the patrol said.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash.

Derevyanchuck’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Rad Towing West and Gonzalez’s by Interstate Towing, the patrol said. Mendoza’s vehicle sustained damaged, but was able to be driven from the scene.
