Pasco man injured, charged in crash

PASCO — A local man was injuured late Wednesday evening in a crash on U.S. Highway 395 about a mile north of the city.

Tomas Martinez Gonzalez, 59, was taken to a local hospital following the 9:02 p.m. crash, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Gonzalez was northbound on the highway when he struck a tractor-trailer that had slowed to turn right into a field access area, the patrol reported.

The driver of the truck, Miguel G. Zavala, 65, of Walla Walla, was not injured, the patrol said.

Gonzalez's 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was removed from the crash scene by A Star Towing.

The patrol charged Gonzalez with negligent driving; no alcohol or drugs were involved.
