Franklin County voters supporting Trump

President has a 16% lead here, but is trailing statewide

PASCO – Franklin County voters are backing President Donald J. Trump tonight in his re-election bid.

A preliminary tally shortly after 8 p.m. showed 56.92% of local voters were supporting President Trump and his running mate, Vice President Mike Pence. The same tally showed Democrat challenger Joe Biden and running mate Sen. Kamala Harris a distant second with 40.23% of the vote.

But they weren't the only ones in the field vying to lead the U.S. for the next four years.

Libertarian Jo Jorgensen and running mate Jeremy Cohen eked out a 1.15% showing. Three other candidates grabbed a 13 votes.

The preliminary count showed 18 of 20 Eastern Washington counties supporting President Trump. The two that didn't: neighboring counties Whitman and Walla Walla.

Statewide, Biden was leading with 60.76% to Trump’s 36.6%. The difference between the candidates topped 800,000 votes.

Nationwide, at press time, several states were still counting ballots and the election was too close to say who was leading.
