Pasco drivers' mirror clips cyclist

Richland man taken to hospital

TOPPENISH — A Pasco driver is being blamed with the injury of a cyclist on state Highway 22 a mile north of the city this morning.

Robert A. Morris, 71, was northbound at about 11:42 a.m. on the highway in a 2020 GMC Sierra pickup when his passenger-side mirror struck cyclist Alexander W. Edwards, 33, of Richland, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Morris was injured and taken to an area hospital; his condition was not released.

Morris and his passenger Cheryl D. Morris, 68, also of Pasco, were not injured in the incident, the patrol reported. Both were wearing seatbelts.

The patrol said the cause of the crash was failure to yield the right-of-way.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were factors, the patrol said.

Morris' pickup sustained non-reportable damage.
