RITZVILLE – The Washington State Patrol is stepping up its effort to get drivers to move over when emergency vehicles, road work crews and tow trucks are present.
The “Move Over, Slow Down,” emphasis started Sunday, April 16, and will run through Saturday, April 22.
Motorists can expect to see extra troopers on the highways near work areas and other emergency vehicles, the patrol reported.
Revised Code of Washington 46.61.212 requires motorists to slow down or move over when approaching a work zone or emergency vehicle.
The patrol recommends reducing speed by at least 10 mph at least 200 feet prior to and after a work zone or emergency vehicle.
