Othello City League volleyball registration to close

Adults league looking for players

OTHELLO – A final call for the city adult co-ed volleyball league has been sounded.

The city’s annual league will see a closing deadline of Friday, May 24, this week.

This year’s first season of adult volleyball will only consist of a maximum of 12 teams, which are encouraged to consist of three men and three women. The Othello Parks and Recreation Department advises that if teams cannot consist of an evenly split three men and three women, teams should attempt to balance with a line up of the following:

• Thee men and two women

• Two men and four women

• Two men and three women

• Two men and two women

• One man and four women

• One man and three women

Teams must have at least four players to start a set. There cannot be two or more men next to each other at any time except in the three men and two women configuration. In such a configuration, only two men can be next to each other, otherwise a women must be placed in between.

This year’s city league will have games played on Monday evenings at Lions Park, 815 E. Pine St., Othello. Running season dates currently range from June 3 to August 4.

A final tournament will be played during the first weekend of August.

A full packet of league rules will be provided to team captains to share with their teams.

There is a $200 registrations fee that must be paid before teams can play.
