Broncos dominate Panthers

RITZVILLE - The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague boys basketball team took command of the court early Friday night, Dec. 27, and cruised to an easy 70-34 win over the visiting River View Panthers.

The Broncos (4-4) opened the game with a 10-6 first quarter, then exploded in the second quarter to expand the margin to 20 points as Bronco senior Brody Boness dominated the baseline.

At the half, the Broncos led the Panthers, 34-16.

Lind-Ritzville's momentum continued in the third quarter, with the Broncos outscoring the Panthers,

24-8.

With the score 58-24 at the start of the final stanza, the Broncos substitutions started. Even so, the Panthers weren't able to capitalize and the Broncos added 2 points to the margin for a final 70-34 victory.

Boness paced the Broncos with 18 points in the game; teammates Zach Klein and Damon Schilling added 14 each.

Other Broncos putting points on the board included Cameron Boness with 13, Cole Rouleau with 5, and Jase Bowman and Beau Fode with 3 each.

Hunter Clark led the Panthers with 12 points.

The victor celebration was shortlived, however, with the Broncos losing the next night in Coulee City.

The Broncos fell to the Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors, 74-47.

In Coulee City, the Broncos kept pace with the Warriors in the first quarter, which ended with a 1-point gap.

But in the second quarter, the Warriors doubled up on the Broncos, outscoring the local boys 22-11 to take a 30-18 lead into the break.

The Warriors (7-1) continued to manage the Broncos in the third and fourth, expanding their lead by an additional 9 points and 6 points, respectively, for the 74-47 win.

Warrior Josh Booker led all scorers with 20 points;

For the Broncos, Brody Boness posted 17 and Zach Klein 16.

Other Broncos putting up points include Cameron Boness, 4; Brix Curtis and Schilling 3; and Jerod Harder and Bowman 2 each.

The Broncos take a hiatus this week and will return to play at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at Medical Lake.
